Cat Amazing Hex Puzzle | QGO Reviews
Aesthetics & Feel: 62/100
Let’s be real, we are talking about a cardboard box here, so there isn’t much to talk about aesthetic-wise and definitely nothing to feel about it. That being said, it could be far uglier than it is. The simple, purple, green, and yellow colorway in the partitioned interior is easy on the eyes and makes tracking down treats easy. The outside of the box is white and is covered with doodle-art – nothing Earth shattering here. This is a weird thing to grade a functional cat accessory on, but since it could be far uglier, the Cat Amazing Hex Puzzle receives an 62/100. That being said, if you are buying this cardboard cat puzzle on aesthetics alone, I’d seriously reconsider.
Build Quality: 72/100
It’s cardboard. It’s hexagonal shape helps it survive any attempts to flip or crush the puzzle by your hungry cat(s). The box itself is pretty straightforward to assemble, but it does not help when you are sent the wrong assembly pieces, and have to resort to arts and crafts.
To the credit of Cat Amazing, the customer support was very responsive and shipped the correct pieces almost immediately, but waiting a week for two cardboard inserts leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, especially at its price point.
UPDATE: As I wrote this review, the package from the Cat Amazing support team arrived. The package arrived in 48 hours instead of a week, like I dramatically stated above. Instead of just including the missing pieces, they sent a whole new puzzle – a pleasant surprise. Cat Amazing scores bonus points here because of how quickly and thoroughly they address customer issues (shoutout Andrey).
Performance: 86/100
The Hex Puzzle is a great tool for stimulating cats’ natural instincts to hunt and explore. Its multi-level design encourages problem-solving and engagement. I mainly use the puzzle to slow-feed my cat, to her dismay. The puzzle performs as promised, and is a useful addition to your cat-entertaining arsenal.
Value: 32/100
At a $30 price point, I can’t justify recommending this product. Even for those who have money to blow, and can’t be bothered just making this at home, it’s still overpriced. I would’ve shown more leniency here if I didn’t have to immediately contact support about getting the right pieces for assembly – it’s unacceptable for the price point.
Overall: 63/100 – Coin Toss
